The official website of Shogakukan's Weekly Shounen Sunday has revealed on Wednesday that author Shinobu Ohtaka will end her Magi manga in four chapters. The series is expected to end in the magazine's 47th issue to be released on October 18.Magi began its serialization in June 2009 and currently has 35 compiled volumes in print, with its 36th volume scheduled for release on October 18. The series won the 59th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shounen category in 2013. A-1 Pictures adapted the manga into two 25-episode anime seasons in Fall 2012 and Fall 2013.A prequel manga to the main series drawn by Yoshifumi Ohtera titled Magi: Sinbad no Bouken has been serialized in Ura Sunday since May 2013, and currently has 15 compiled volumes in print. The series inspired a 5-episode OVA series and a 13-episode TV anime by Lay-duce.Viz Media has been releasing the manga for North American release since 2013, and recently published the 25th volume on August 8. The series has also been released in various languages, including Spanish and Polish, among others. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic was simulcast in various regions via Crunchyroll, while Magi: The Kingdom of Magic was simulcast on Daisuki and Animax UK in addition to Crunchyroll. The anime series were also licensed by Aniplex of America for North American distribution.
