We have seen Seiya in year 2012 yet, that was in Episode G assasin.
He still looks juvenile despite his 39 years.
But as for Kurumada's classic manga, you have to apply
a sliding time scale:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating_timelineIt's not as evident as in The Simpson, where the protagonists meet celebrities and USA presidents courants de charge, based on the years the season is airing.
But the time in the show never really flows in accordance.
CdZ has its own mythological setting, it doesn't much matter.
But when a date is indicated, it's self-referential to Kurumada's pubblications.
An inside-joke.
The date of GW announcement in the newspaper? it's when the first tankobon of saintseiya was relesed. 10 september 1986
So the young reader could have fantasized the battle between saints as something happening in his present time.
Julian Solo 's bithday is 21 march. The chapter with his party was pubblished in the #15 WSJ of 21/03/1988.
Here the joke becomes substantial with plot, since some characters make reference to spring season.
But it's completely inconsistent with the previous date of september , because it make the battle with Gold Saint at Sanctuary takes place at the beginning of March.
Before Deathmask's arrival at Goro-ho, Shiryu is said to have been farming for
some weeks.
You could reasonably intend for 3 / 6weeks at maximum.
They can't be 5 months! , during Seiya was hospitalized, Shaina missing in Japan, Saga ignoring Saori's menace.
You have to retcon everything as starting in January of the same year
In the end of Poseidon arc, Kurumada used a month old French newspaper.
Of course the bronze saint didn't spent a year under the water to defeat the Marina
In ND doesn't set the event in 2006 but.
Kurumada wanted to gave the impression he was picking up the thread of story there where he had left it.
in the 1990.
It's meta - floating timeline.
Don't take 10th september 1986 as serious.
To prove, I once asked the big chinese collector QDD how that page looked in Jump prepubblication.
Of course it was different.
28th January 1986 !!! again, when the magazine was pubblished. (WSJ #9)
http://upic.me/show/37502980Will we get another date change in the next saint seiya Definitive Ediction?? likely
2021?!?!?!?! LOL
